Bishop Little League, in partnership with Cerro Coso College, has announced the return of its pitching clinic. Scheduled for October 10th, the clinic offers young baseball players an opportunity to develop their pitching skills. The session will run from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM, providing three hours of focused instruction.

Players between the ages of 7 and 18 are eligible to participate in the clinic. The cost for each player is $100, which is due at the time of registration. This clinic aims to provide a focused environment for aspiring pitchers to refine their techniques and build confidence on the mound, preparing them for more competitive play.

The clinic will feature instruction from experienced coaches, offering valuable insights into the mechanics of pitching. Phil Dumatrait, a former MLB pitcher and current Cerro Coso Pitching Coach, will lead the sessions. He will be joined by Corbin Barker, the Cerro Coso Assistant Pitching Coach, ensuring a comprehensive coaching staff for all participants. These coaches bring valuable expertise and practical knowledge to help young players improve their game, focusing on fundamental and advanced techniques.

A new addition to this clinic aims to provide a more realistic and challenging experience for the participants. Players will now have the distinct opportunity to pitch to college catchers. This integration is designed to give them a "more game-like experience," allowing them to practice their skills in a dynamic setting that closely mimics actual game situations. Working with college catchers is expected to aid players in refining their mechanics, increasing their velocity, improving their command over pitches, and bolstering their overall confidence on the field, facing a catcher who can provide immediate feedback and challenge.

Beyond the on-field instruction, each player registered for the clinic will also receive resources to continue their development off the field. Participants will be provided with an arm recovery and strength program to take home. This program is intended to support the ongoing physical development and health of young pitchers, helping them maintain their arm strength, prevent injuries, and sustain their performance levels throughout their seasons.

Registration for the clinic is now open. Interested players and their families can register by emailing [email protected] The registration fee of $100 must be submitted at the time of registration to secure a spot. Payment can be conveniently made through Venmo to BLL51. Bishop Little League emphasizes that spots for this clinic are limited to ensure quality instruction and adequate coach-to-player ratios. Therefore, potential participants are strongly encouraged to register early to ensure their inclusion in this valuable training opportunity. The organization is excited to partner once again with Cerro Coso College to offer this enhanced experience to the community's youth baseball players, supporting their athletic development and passion for the sport.
