Fall colors are in full swing at lower elevations around Mammoth Lakes, with the season's progression moving down from higher areas. Convict Lake and McGee Canyon are currently showing vibrant bursts of color, and the June Lake region is also presenting an impressive display.

Throughout the June Lake Loop, colors are reported to be 50-75% Near Peak. Areas around Silver Lake exhibit a distinctive lemon-lime hue, while Rush Creek and the hillsides descending towards Grant contribute significant blazes of orange. Local observers anticipate the coming weeks in June Lake will offer continued vibrant displays.

In the Mammoth Lakes Basin, the fall foliage is currently 75-100% Peaking. The area continues to glow with color, as aspens along the bike path maintain their full yellow tones and willows around Lake Mary showcase their orange. While some foliage has passed its peak, there remains ample color to appreciate.

Mammoth Lakes Town is also experiencing peak colors, at 75-100%. The most vivid displays can be found at Mammoth Creek, where yellow and orange hues are at their fullest. Trees along the Town Loop and Snowcreek Meadow are also peaking, with numerous pockets of vibrant color visible throughout town. Additionally, the golden hues of fall are becoming dominant around an unnamed lake, despite some green areas, and is expected to continue showing off through next week, weather permitting.

McGee Creek Canyon's trail is currently described as "absolutely peaking," with one hiker quoted as saying, "it doesn’t matter how far you’re going, it’s spectacular every step of the way." Elsewhere, at a lower pond moving along a creek to the west within a canyon, the display of colors is described as quite fantastic, offering a perfect fall photo opportunity without needing to travel far. For Rock Creek Lake and areas above it, this period is considered the last opportunity for viewing. From Rock Creek Resort down to Tom's Place, there is no shortage of color, though these displays are expected to fade quickly.

Aspens along the pass are still showing color, but with incoming weather, conditions on the road could change rapidly. Visitors planning to experience the iconic Eastern Sierra palette are advised to grab a camera and a warm layer. Mammoth Lakes is highlighted as an ideal home base for enjoying the season, with discounted lodging options available.
