Bishop Union High School's football team secured a commanding non-league victory over Immanuel Christian on Friday night at Bishop Union High School, defeating them 42-8. The Broncos established control early, scoring all 42 of their points in the first half to build a significant lead.

The team's offense started strong, ensuring a 42-0 lead by halftime. This early dominance led to a running clock being used throughout the second half as Bishop Union closed out the game. The decisive first half performance set the tone for the entire contest.

Quarterback Dom Barlow played a key role in the offensive charge. Barlow completed three of his five pass attempts for a total of 173 yards and contributed three touchdowns through the air. He also added to the ground game, rushing for 20 yards and scoring an additional touchdown.

DeVaun Mitchell was a primary target for Barlow, making two receptions for 133 yards and scoring two touchdowns. Dom Dondero also made an impact with a 40-yard touchdown reception. On the ground, Oscar Henriquez proved effective, carrying the ball three times for a total of 90 yards, which included a notable 57-yard touchdown run.

The Broncos' defense also delivered a strong performance throughout the game. Dom Dondero was a standout on defense, recording four tackles and returning an interception 25 yards for a touchdown. DeVaun Mitchell contributed five tackles and secured a sack. Heath Fuller added a sack of his own and broke up a pass. Quarterback Dom Barlow also made defensive contributions, tallying three tackles and an interception.

Zane Nicholson recorded three tackles, along with a tackle for loss and a quarterback hurry. Further defensive pressure came from Jaydan Jimenez, Sergio Sandoval, Daxen Svacina, and Alexis Guerrero, each of whom recorded a tackle for loss, demonstrating the team's collective defensive effort.

On special teams, Aiden Esparza maintained a perfect record, successfully converting all six of his extra-point attempts following the Broncos' touchdowns.

With this non-league victory, Bishop Union's season record now stands at 3-4. The team will have a bye next week, providing a break before their next contest.

The Broncos are set to return to action on Friday, October 16, when they will open their High Desert League play. This upcoming game will be against Boron and will also serve as Bishop Union’s Homecoming game, marking an important event on the team's calendar.
